Empowering High Point: A Historic Budget Victory for Our Community

Dear valued constituent,

The 2023 budget is complete and I am very proud to report to you what is in it for us in High Point. The state budget has 29 million dollars in appropriations for the city of High Point which more than doubles the amount that we got in the last budget. I believe this will have aprofound impact on our cityas it will provide resources to support local organizations in continuing their crucial work of addressing issues related to violence, food deserts, hunger, and housing faced by our community.
We were able to continue to fund the High Point Collaborativeby adding 2 million dollars to the program, meaning additional support for the more than 25 High Point non-profits that we previously funded. The state budget also includes 1 million dollars for Business High Point -Chamber of Commerce’s Washington Street Minority Business Development program and 2 million dollars for Puzzle Play to aid the work of Q’s Corner which provides sensory learning education and resources for children with disabilities.

Other organizations and projects in our community that will receive support from the budget include the High Point Housing Authority, Open Door Ministries of High Point, the Carl Chavis Memorial Branch YMCA, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater High Point, the Welfare Reform Liaison Project, the Southwest Renewal Foundation, and the Diversity Advocacy Alliance of the High Point Furniture Market Authority.

This is an unprecedented amount of money for the city of High Pointfrom the state budget.Never before has the city received this much money from the state to go directly to people who need it most. Attached is a complete list of appropriations. Please do not hesitateto contact me or my office at any time. My office number is 919-733-5825 and my email address is [email protected].

Best,

Rep. Cecil Brockman
